How to Bill for COVID-19 Vaccine

Proper medical billing for the Coronavirus vaccine is significant not only for reimbursement but also for governmental reporting purposes.

Every Coronavirus vaccine has its own individual CPT code based upon who the vaccine manufacturer is – Morderna or Pfizer. The code for vaccine administration is also based upon the manufacturer, as well as the number of doses to be administered.

If a healthcare organization receives one of these vaccines from the government to be administered to patients, they should remember to only bill the codes for vaccine administration when submitting claims. They Should Not include the CPT codes for the vaccine when the Coronavirus vaccines are free of cost.

How will these Vaccines for Coronavirus be Reimbursed?

The Federal Government shall be providing the COVID-19 Vaccine when it first comes out. So, there will not be any reimbursement for the vaccines themselves. But, there will be reimbursement for administering the vaccine.
